Generating a holistic oasis takes a little time, but it will be well worth the wait

Phases

To create a pioneering US$1.6billion island that generates a holistic oasis with world-class facilities takes a little time, but will unquestionably be worth the wait. In fact, progress is well under way with the award of the first phase infrastructure package.

Ithmaar Development Company (IDC) with many years of experience in managing real estate projects spanning residential, commercial, hospitality, wellness/health care facilities as well as infrastructure sub-sectors is managing the project. IDC awarded this first ‘infrastructure’ phase to Cebarco Bahrain, part of KAR Group. Cebarco is renowned for its work on Formula One circuits in both Bahrain and Abu Dhabi and will be working alongside infrastructure designers Mott MacDonald Limited and cost consultants DG Jones & Partners to deliver the services for the landmark project.

This first phase, valued at US$22million, will involve creating the 125 hectare island’s highways and roads, as well as a 40-metre span distributor bridge that will cross over Dilmunia’s Grand Canal, manage all landscaping in addition to the statutory power, water, sewerage, drainage and telecommunications networks. The phase will take 24 months to be completed, but will run alongside various sub-developments within the same timeframe, thus meaning end-users will be handed keys to their units by mid-2015.

Driven by considered market insight of creating a holistic well-being location in a progressive economy to a community that genuinely has a need for it, Dilmunia aims to make the Kingdom of Bahrain a world-class health tourism destination attracting millions of dollars in investment and creating thousands of highly skilled jobs in the process. Following considered master planning, this first critical phase of Dilmunia’s development demonstrates a commitment to deliver business opportunities to develop world-class amenities, residential developments and lifestyle facilities. This beginning is a foundation for Bahrain and a great legacy for communities and investors alike. Truly realising, restoring balance, enhancing life.
