Dilmunia Canal

Set to be one of Bahrain’s most popular scenic destinations, the Dilmunia Canal is the Kingdom’s largest man-made body of water. The 1.7km canal stretches from the Marina to the north till the Dilmunia Garden in the south, providing a central link between Dilmunia’s districts. It will be surrounded by public promenades, geysers, water fountains, water walls, water cascades, boardwalks, and event plazas, making it one of the island’s focal points.

Once the canal is completed, residents and visitors can enjoy shopping and dining in a vibrant community atmosphere at the canal-front retail district. Dancing fountains all along the canal further add to the ambience, providing a mesmerising backdrop for the eclectic range of restaurants.

With its waterfront views, distinctive character, and diverse facilities, The Dilmunia Canal is poised to become one of the Kingdom’s leading event venues. From food festivals and art exhibitions to sports competitions and cultural programmes, family-friendly activities can be hosted throughout the year.

Aligned with Dilmunia’s agenda to promote a lifestyle of holistic wellness, the canal’s water supply is pumped from the sea and will flow in two different directions before returning to the ocean. The canal is visible from the Mall of Dilmunia as well as planned residential and mixed-use buildings that will surround the area, providing a scenic view for residents and shoppers.

The Dilmunia Canal development is progressing as planned, with early works and soil improvement completed in April 2019. The canal works are divided into three phases and the first phase is scheduled for completion in Q4 2020.
